Western Civ II Lesson 60: Enlightened Absolutism and the Constitutional Dispute that Led to the American Revolution

1. What was “enlightened absolutism”?
Enlightened absolutism was the result of those in power using the ideas put forth previously in the Age of Enlightenment.

2. What was the constitutional dispute between the colonists and the British government that led to the American Revolution? Give specific examples of how this constitutional dispute was evident in particular events (e.g., the Stamp Act).
The American people were tired of taxation without representation. The British Empire would tax so many things in their American colonies, but the colonies never received the benefits of the taxation. One famous example of this is the tea tax, which set off the chain of events that lead to the Boston tea party, where Americans dressed as Indians and threw the imported tea into the ocean. Another act is the Currency Act, which stopped the colonists from printing their own money.

  1. Woman, I get more depressed every time I open my reader bc you’re the only person who’s been posting for weeks. I have like 80 articles from your blog and nothing else. I’m sure your articles are lovely, but why is nobody else posting?!

Also, you’re invited to my bday party next weekend. I’m thinking like 6ish on Friday.
